In recent days I have noticed a big step backwards from the popular photo portal 1x.com. The entire portfolios of excellent photographers around the world are now circulating on the internet and their photos are being sold for ridiculous money.
For those who have yet to come in contact with the 1x.com website. The 1x.com photo portal is one of a kind because all the pictures that are shown on the web passed through the curator, because you can find only a selection of the best. Only about 3% of all photos are published after the curation process. In the past, being published at 1x.com meant a great deal to us. Unfortunaely this is not the case for me anymore.
If you are going to travel around Iceland, you are definitely considering a car rental to be completely free during your explorations of all the interesting places that Iceland has to offer. I arrived at Keflavik International Airport around midnight. Personaly it was the best idea to rent a car directly from the airport and return it on the way back.
After a brief search of offers, I decided to use the services offered by GO ICELAND, their office is located approximately 500 meters from the airport. You can pay extra charge for the airport pick up service if you like. However, it was not necessary in this case because you will recieve an e-mail before your arrival with a map of the location for the Keflavik walk in office.
Many photographers often ask me what kind of equipment I am using for Long Exposure Photography. If you are one of them, this article is perfect for you. In the following extract I will explain to you what is essential to have if you want to take long exposure photos and also what brand of filters and other accessories I use. You can see the achievable results in my gallery of black and white photographs. If you don´t know how to take pictures using Long exposure techniques, read about each step of what you should do, as well as tutorials of how I convert a color photo to black and white.
At first, I would like to thank Martin Vrabko for providing me with an opportunity to be a part of the Slovak team in the prestigious competition World Photographic Cup. My photo got to the finals and I won the 7th place in Landscape category. All winners were announced on April 12th, in Montpellier, France.
Also a local newspaper wrote about our success, the online version can be viewed here. There is another article on Ephoto.
My work was mentioned in Shutterbug magazine. Despite the fact that I live in Slovakia, I decided to run my website only in English to serve a wider audience.
I am honoured that my picture was selected as a cover of the Digital Camera World magazine. You can order the latest issue here. You can find more information inside the magazine, here are the two pages from it.
The Sony World Photography Awards is the world’s biggest photography competition. Working across 54 countries, from Australia to Argentina, local juries were tasked to uncover and honour the best single image taken by a photographer from their country and my photo won third place in Slovakia. All images from all 54 National Awards will also be shown as part of the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from 24th April – 10th May. The first and second place for Slovakia can be seen here.
